Girl in the wind

Girl in the wind
The mosaic is: 31.5/42.5"
Stained Glass
Bizassa Tiles
Millefiori

It took awhile, but I offer you  in first-hand my latest work in mosaic.
It was a challenge to do the face, because I had never done in my previous mosaics, so from the beginning  the final outcome  was uncertain.
However I am satisfied with the result.

Regarding the grouting, I opted for gray.
I think I made a good choice because the colors have not faded, and highligts all colours of the mosaic especially the face that I was more worried.

Right now I'm thinking about a new project, I want it a little smaller than this and especially that can end sooner, is complicated because there is still my job :) ...

Terrible doubt!!!!!!

Every time I finish a mosaic, I´m invaded  by this terrible doubt...
To grout or not to grout! That is the question.
I dont know what color to use, becouse I don´t want that the colour of the mosaic  be compromised... :(
It´s a terrible choise to make, but I need to decide until this weekend.
I saw on the book of Martin Cheek "Mosaic Craft" that he recomends: " plain grout, becouse it  delineates the tesserae and brightly couloured lines can overpower the design"...
So I need your help, what choices do you  make at the time of grouting?
All opinions are welcome!!!!

Christine Brallier

I  would like to make here a little homage to a person who influenced my passion since I started to LOVE mosaics, her name is Christine Brallier from cbmosaics .
I love her work, especially her admiration for nature and animals ( I love her cats), as well the colour and the movement that she brings to every work that she creates.

Christine  is currently doing a Children´s Book in mosaic, and so far, the detais that I´ve seen, it will be a SPECIAL book, for both children and adults, becouse the ilustration is just wonderfull...

It´s one of the artists I´d like to meet in person, unfortunatly, we live in different continents, but one day... who knows...
And my second wish, is one day to be as good as her :)

Keep on the good work Christine!!!!

This 4 pictures, are from Christine work,
See more here at cbmosaics.

The yellow Saxophone

Fotographed by Fábio Ferreira

Diameter: 24,4"
Stained Glass
Bizassa Tiles
Millefiori

Another tribute to jazz.
"The Yellow Saxophone" was made after The Soloist as a sequence of my passion for this kind of music.
It took me two months to finish it, becouse the base of the mosaic is curved, so I have to wait for the line to dry before place another line of tiles.
It took time but I love the result =)
There´s a mix of materials, and I think that this is my way, mixing millefiori with stained glass, in my next work I´m already thinking of mixing some new kind of material.
I like the improvement and the anxiety that I feel for the final result.
I already started my next work, and all I can say for now, is that the theme is completely diferent ... =)

Outro tributo ao jazz.
Este mosaico intitulado" The Yellow Saxophone" é a continuação do trabalho anterior.

The Soloist

The mosaic is 26/12"
Stained Glass
Bizassa Tiles

I created this mosaic as a tribute to Jazz.

The Jazz music always fascinated me, especially great names .The piece is very abstract but the violoncello gives all the movement to the mosaic.

The base of the mosaic is glass, and it can be placed in a table or hanged on a wall.
